Mr. Softie is an application for typographic manipulation that provides writers, graphic designers, animators and typographers a greater control over textual objects. It is based on the NextText<\/a> framework, which facilitates the implementation of an interface that specifically targets the authoring of textual content.<\/p>\n

The glyphs are managed in vectorial form which makes it possible to create graphics from small to large scale. It allows exporting of typographic compositions to common image formats (e.g., TIFF) as well as vector formats (e.g., PDF) to combine the creative process with other applications.<\/p>\n

Mr. Softie includes a set of SoftType which allow spaciotemporal transformation of textual objects. SoftTypes are used as \u2019sculpting\u2019 tools to create static composition with a kinetic feel, and also, to generate animation that the application export to file sequences.<\/p>\n

You will need to install QuickTime<\/a> to export animations directly to video if you are using Windows.<\/p>\n

If you want to use Mr. Softie in a larger workflow, you can export documents to multiple file formats, including PDF. However, Adobe Illustrator doesn’t have an easy way to import PDF layers as Illustrator layers, so we included a feature to export a single document to a multipage PDF. Mr. Softie places a glyph, word or passage on each page, which you can then import into a layered Illustrator document using our MultipagePDF v1.1<\/a> script.<\/p>\n
